“Another Gaza” Norway warns of the collapse of the Palestinian Authority within months

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide warned on Monday of the possibility of the collapse of the Palestinian Authority in the coming months, pointing to the lack of funding and continued violence, in addition to not allowing half a million Palestinians to work in Israel.

“The situation is very dangerous,” Barth Eddy told Reuters. “The Palestinian Authority, with whom we work closely, is warning us that it may collapse this summer.”

"If it collapses, we could end up with another Gaza, which would be terrible for everyone, including the people of Israel," he added.

Norway chairs the international donor group for the Palestinians and is a supporter of the Palestinian Authority.

On May 22, Norway, Ireland, and Spain officially announced their recognition of the State of Palestine, starting on May 28, amid Palestinian welcome to the European countries’ step, while Israel restored its ambassadors to Norway and Ireland at the time “to conduct emergency consultations.”

In conjunction with the Israeli occupation army's war on Gaza since October 7, the army and settlers escalated their attacks on the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, leaving 548 dead, about 5,200 wounded, and more than 9,185 Palestinian detainees, according to official Palestinian authorities.
