Acid-base balance is one of the important indicators of human health, because it affects the functioning of the entire body. When it is disturbed, immunity decreases, the skin deteriorates, and general health worsens.
Dr. Polina Zhuravlyova, a nutrition expert, points out that malnutrition often causes an acid-base imbalance, which leads to “acidification” of the body.
She says: “Immunity decreases significantly when acidity increases, metabolism slows down, bones become brittle, chronic fatigue takes over, and skin problems begin.”
According to her, the negative consequences of acid-base imbalance is increased activity of pathogenic microorganisms, as they begin to actively multiply in an acidic environment. In addition, the skin's protective barrier is disrupted and metabolism slows down.
The reason is a diet dominated by meat, sweets, pasteurized dairy products, alcohol, coffee, tea and smoking. Pointing out that this is what most people follow. It is therefore important to add "alkaline" foods to the diet, such as leafy greens and vegetables that contain a small amount of starch - spinach, cauliflower, carrots and celery. In addition, it is recommended to add avocados, citrus fruits, nuts (except cashews and peanuts), as well as fatty fish to the diet.
The specialist points out that to maintain the acid-base balance, you must reduce the consumption of sugar and dairy products, as well as reduce the intake of meat and processed foods, as well as caffeine. Exercise also helps restore acid-base balance, and even walking contributes to this.
