Russian doctor Alexander Myasnikov warned that the incorrect use of antibiotics could cause serious health problems.
During his medical program on the "Russia" channel, the doctor said: "Antibiotics are considered one of the most important medicines for treating many diseases, but it is dangerous to use these medicines randomly and without consulting a doctor, as using them incorrectly leads to the development of new generations of viruses and bacteria that our bodies will be unable to resist, and our bodies will become unable to resist diseases that could be treated in the past."
He added: "The second mistake is drinking alcohol while taking antibiotics. There are two types of antibiotics that should not be taken with alcohol. The first is metronidazole, which is used to treat Helicobacter pylori, sexually transmitted diseases, and some dental diseases. Consuming alcohol with this medication causes severe vomiting. The second type of medications that should not be taken with alcohol are cephalosporins, such as cephalosporin, ceftriaxone, and others."
The doctor pointed out that alcoholic beverages negatively affect the mechanism of exacerbation of inflammation in the body in general, so it is preferable not to drink alcohol in cases of illness.
Many health experts warn that taking some antibiotics for long periods may cause an imbalance in beneficial intestinal bacteria, which negatively affects health and the functioning of the body's immune system.
It's a concern.
