A collision between two passenger and goods trains in India

On Monday, a number of passengers were injured after a high-speed train collided with a goods train in the Darjeeling region of the state of West Bengal in India.
NDTV reported that the Kanchanjunga express train was heading from Silchar in Assam to Sealdah in Kolkata when a goods train collided with it, causing two coaches of the express train to derail.

Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee said that doctors and disaster response teams were rushed to the scene, adding: “I was shocked when I learned of the tragic train accident.”

The Katihar divisional railway division director reported that a small number of people were injured due to the accident, without revealing the toll.

It is noteworthy that the "Kanchanjunga" train is a daily train that connects the state of Bengal with the cities of the northeast of the country, and the accident is likely to affect the movement of many other trains.
