A celebration of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics turns into an injury

French swimmer Raphael Fenty-Demers' joy at his qualification for the Paris Olympics was not complete yesterday, Tuesday, due to his shoulder injury while celebrating this achievement.

Fenty-Demers took second place in the 100-meter freestyle final in the French Olympic qualifiers, after recording a personal best time of 48.14 seconds, surpassing the time required to qualify for the Olympics, which is 48.34 seconds.

He also earned a place on the French team for the 4x100m relay after finishing second behind Maxime Groset.

Immediately after the race, the promising 17-year-old swimmer celebrated enthusiastically before screaming in pain in his left shoulder.

The French newspaper L'Equipe reported that the young swimmer suffered a dislocated shoulder and was taken to a hospital.

“I hope things go well for him because we are waiting for him in the relay,” said Grosset, who caught the attention of the medical staff after the race and helped Fenty-Demers out of the pool.

He added: "He is a bit of a crazy swimmer. He is not afraid of anything and will achieve something."

The swimming competitions at the Paris Olympics are scheduled to be held from July 27 to August 4.
