What is the danger of elderly people eating too much fruit?
-
Dr. Yelena Solomatina, a Russian nutrition expert, said that elderly people should not eat too much fruit because this causes health problems, including obesity and diabetes.

The expert points out that fructose and fiber found in fruits affect this. In addition, eating a large amount of it may lead to fatty liver, because the liver will try to compensate for the amount of fructose and will not be able to perform its function normally. Another negative effect of excess fruits in the diet is allergies.

She says: “Allergies often develop to fruits, especially red ones. Of course, a small amount of them may not cause anything, but an excess may do so. Therefore, everything must be eaten in moderation.”
According to the doctor, in old age, when there are no contraindications, you can eat only two pieces of fruit a day - in the morning and after lunch.

It is noteworthy that experts from the World Health Organization and the International Foundation for Cancer Research have recommended that we eat about 400 grams of fruits, nuts, legumes and vegetables daily, divided into five portions. This daily norm includes juices and dried fruits as well.
