USA: technology and innovation at the center of Ruto's state visit

Kenyan President William Ruto was welcomed by his American counterpart Joe Biden at the White House in Washington.

The three-day state visit began with a meeting with technology executives and business leaders. The American head of state particularly highlighted the longevity of the diplomatic relationship between the United States and Kenya.

"As we celebrate 60 years of ties between our two countries, it is clear that our people are the true strength of this partnership. And in a partnership that works well. Nowhere is this more important than in the field of innovation That's why we have so many companies around this table, from Silicon Valley to Silicon Savannah. Our people have driven us forward and pioneered new technologies that transform millions of people. lives....", rejoiced Joe Biden, President of the United States. 

President Joe Biden launched what he called a new era of partnership between the two countries confirming a mutual desire to undertake technology sector development projects with an emphasis on innovation.

“We are launching a new era of technology cooperation between Kenya and America, including new trade and investment in the key areas of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and semiconductors. And this progress is due in large part party to the leaders present around this table.", added the American president. 

At the end of this state visit, the United States should designate Kenya as a major non-NATO ally. Kenya would be the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to receive this designation, which symbolizes Washington's desire to deepen its strategic relations with the country.

“Our young, talented, educated, innovative population and cutting-edge American technology, as well as investment capital and investors hungry for opportunity, not only in Kenya but also on our continent, are perfectly suited to this moment. I believes this is a historic moment to explore investment opportunities between Kenya and the United States." said William Ruto, President of Kenya. 

The visit comes as the United States prepares to deploy forces to Haiti as part of UN efforts to address the security crisis in the Caribbean country.
