The US Central Command announced on Saturday that 4 US Navy ships operating on a humanitarian support mission in Gaza were damaged this morning by weather conditions, without causing any casualties.
The command said in a statement: “Four US Navy ships on a humanitarian support mission in Gaza were damaged this morning by weather conditions. The third and fourth ships are currently on the beach in Israel off Ashkelon.”
The statement added, "Efforts are underway to recover the ships with the assistance of the Israeli Navy, and there have been no reports of casualties."
Israeli Channel 12 said on Saturday morning that the waves washed away part of the American floating pier off Gaza to the shores of the city of Ashdod, noting that the Israeli Navy restored it and attached it again.
After months of preparations, and at a huge cost expected to reach $320 million, the American naval pier was opened last week , which provides a new route for the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Strip.
That's distressing!
