US Central Command announced on Saturday that the Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement targeted an oil tanker with an anti-ship ballistic missile in the Red Sea.
The Central Command stated in a statement on the “X” platform that the targeted tanker is “MT Wind”, which flies the Panama flag and is owned and operated by Greece.
The statement added that the tanker recently docked in Russia, where it was heading to China.
According to the Central Command, "the anti-ship ballistic missile caused a flood inside the tanker, which led to the loss of propulsion and steering, without recording any casualties, and it resumed its sailing course under its own capabilities."
It is noteworthy that since last November, the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in Yemen has continued its attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden , targeting “Israeli ships linked to Israel or those heading to it,” in order to “support the Palestinian people in Gaza.”
As a result, many shipping companies decided to suspend shipping through the Red Sea.
The Houthis announced in recent days that they would begin implementing the "fourth phase of escalation" in order to support the Palestinians in Gaza.
