The President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, sent a message of congratulations to the captain of the Portuguese Al-Nasr International Club, Cristiano Ronaldo, after his historic achievement in the Saudi League.
Ronaldo ended his first (full) season in the Saudi League at the top of the scorers list with 35 goals.
This is the highest goal tally for a player in one season since the beginning of the Saudi Professional League in the 2008-2009 season, and “Al-Don” surpassed the previous record set by Moroccan striker Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah (34 goals) in the 2018-2019 season with Al-Nasr jersey.
Ronaldo also became the first player in the history of football to win the league's top scorer award in four different leagues after being crowned top scorer with Spanish Real Madrid on many occasions, and Italian Juventus, as well as with England's Manchester United and finally the Saudi club Al-Nasr.
The FIFA President posted on his Instagram account a picture of himself with Ronaldo, carrying the Al-Nasr shirt, and commented: “Congratulations to Cristiano for breaking the record in the Saudi League for the most goals in one season.”
He added: "He has now achieved this amazing distinction in four different countries during his triumphant club career! A truly amazing achievement!"
