Rakhine state Residents told RFA that some villages in Poon Kyun and Kyaukta townships are facing drinking water problems.
He also said that Rakhine State is a region with high temperatures during the summer, and because the drinking water is not clean during this time of high temperature, people are worried about diarrhea and skin diseases.
In some villages in Phon Ngyun Township, a family can only be given two bottles of water a day because the ponds have dried up, said a volunteer from Phon Ngyun Township who did not want to be named.
"The ponds in the villages are self-sufficient only for the villagers. Now that there are more war refugees, the water in the lake is drying up quickly. Now there are villages that can only provide two bottles of water to a family. Some villages do not have water, and other villages I have to go from a long distance to fetch water. When the weather is so hot, there is not enough water, so it is difficult."
At this time, water is scarce every year, and this year, there are more war victims, so it will be more difficult, he said.
Similarly, some villages in Kyauktao Township are facing difficulties in drinking water due to the increasing number of people fleeing the war, people who are helping told RFA.
Residents asked not to reveal the names of their villages for fear of being bombed.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) also announced on March 27 that the support for the Rakhine war victims is decreasing and drinking water is becoming scarce.
