Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the continued development of the Egyptian port network, in line with the state’s efforts to make the most of the infrastructure.

During the meeting held by the Egyptian President with the Minister of Transport, the Commander of the Navy, and a number of leaders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, he was briefed on the developments in work on establishing, modernizing and operating ports across the Republic, in light of the pivotal role they represent for all sectors of the state, as well as their role in enhancing the position of Egypt as a regional and global center for maritime transport, logistics and transit trade.

Egyptian Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir confirmed earlier that to develop ports, they must be linked to production areas, whether industrial, agricultural, tourism or service, by means of transportation.

He pointed out that logistical corridors move ports, railways, highways, and all transportation sectors with high efficiency, including the “Taba-Arish” corridor, which is a new port on the far eastern border of Egypt, because the port of Taba is an economic development port and a national security issue.
