Norwegian singer Alessandra Mele announced her withdrawal from her country's organizing team in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest (Eurovision) in protest against Israel's war of genocide against the Palestinians.
Alessandra Meli was scheduled to distribute points on behalf of Norway during the final competition of the competition. She confirmed that she would withdraw from this mission.
She said in a video clip on her X and Instagram accounts that she withdrew due to the genocide launched by Israel in Gaza and in protest against Israel's participation in the Eurovision contest.
Alessandra represented Norway at Eurovision 2023 and reached fifth place with 268 points.
She said in the video: “Please open your eyes open your hearts let love lead the truth freedom for Palestine.”
