NASA announces the date of the test flight of the X-59 supersonic aircraft
NASA President Bill Nelson announced that the agency's experts hope that the experimental American X-59 hypersonic plane will fly at the end of this year 2024.

He said during a hearing in the US Senate Appropriations Committee, “The “Creating a sonic boom because it will fly over populated areas.”

According to him, the noise that the X-59 is expected to make during its flight will be “muffled noise.”

It is reported that the main distinguishing feature of the “silent supersonic aircraft” manufactured in the United States as part of the Questst program is that it does not emit a characteristic crackle when flying at supersonic speed. Therefore, NASA expects that testing the new aircraft in the future will allow lifting the ban on supersonic commercial aircraft flights, which has been in place in the United States and a number of other countries for 50 years.

According to the designers of the X-59, it is not a prototype, but rather an experimental aircraft, the use of which will allow collecting data for the development of future generations of supersonic passenger aircraft.

The speed of this plane, which is about 30 meters long and has a wingspan of about 9 metres, can reach 1,488 km/h, which is higher than the speed of sound.
