Iranian University: We will provide scholarships to students and professors of American and European universities who were expelled following the protests

The President of the Iranian University of Shiraz, Muhammad Moazani, announced the decision of the university administration to offer scholarships to students expelled from European and American universities following the pro-Palestinian protests.

This came during a solidarity stand by students and professors of Shiraz universities under the title “Awakening Conscience” earlier, in support of the pro-Palestinian uprising carried out by American and European students, in front of the entrance to Shiraz University.

The President of Shiraz University explained at this ceremony that some of the events of 2024 revealed a series of facts, adding: “The first truth that was published is the essence of Western civilization, and its conclusion we see in the events of Gaza, and the other truth is proof of the validity of the message of the Iranian Islamic Revolution.”

Muhammad Moazani added: “The uprising of Imam Khomeini had one of its major goals and ideals, from the beginning, to support Palestine, and we can clearly see the manifestations of his great saying that Israel is the cancerous tumor of the Islamic world,” pointing to the late Imam’s message that “America is the Great Satan.”

The university president also touched on Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei’s message in 2015, saying: “In that year, the leader of the revolution sent a message to the youth of Europe and North America and called for knowledge of true Islam, and the focus of the leader of the Islamic revolution was on the goals of anti-Islamic propaganda in Europe and America,” continuing. “The reason that prompted the leader of the revolution to make the youth the target of his speech is their pure spirit and truth-seeking nature, which their statesmen have harmed in these years, but today we see that the youth of America and Europe have found that the message of these men is just talk.”

Muhammad Moazani concluded his speech by announcing the decision of the Shiraz University administration to grant scholarships to students expelled from European and American universities, explaining: “Students and even professors who have been expelled or threatened with expulsion can continue their studies in Shiraz, and I believe that other universities in Shiraz and Fars Province are preparing to take such a step.” the decision".

Reports indicate that on Monday, Columbia University began suspending and expelling pro-Palestinian students for refusing to dismantle a protest camp on its campus in New York City, after the university announced that negotiations aimed at ending the protest had reached a dead end.

New York Mayor Eric Adams announced in a press conference on Wednesday that the city police arrested 300 people during student protests in support of Palestine at Columbia University, where the pace of protests escalated at American and European universities, in rejection of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and what the students described as “massacres.” “Genocide” is being committed against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

This also comes as university administrations are trying to suppress student movements by calling for the dispersal of sit-ins and using force in some of them.
