Gaza: Martyrs and wounded in Israeli raids, and the World Food Organization warns of famine

The Israeli occupation army continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip for the 227th day, intensifying its raids on the east of the city of Deir al-Balah, which resulted in martyrs and wounded.

Medical sources at Baptist Hospital in Gaza City said that on Monday, Israeli warplanes targeted 3 homes in the city, causing a number of martyrs and injuries, including children, among Palestinian civilians.

The matter concerns a house in the vicinity of the “Sheikh Zakaria” Mosque in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in the center of Gaza City, another in the Al-Sabra neighborhood south of the city, and a third house for the Al-Arouqi family in the Abu Skander area in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza, according to eyewitnesses.

Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation forces continue their incursion into large areas in the northern Gaza Strip, at a time when the region is witnessing violent clashes between Palestinian resistance elements and the Israeli occupation army.

On the other hand, medical sources at the Kuwaiti Hospital reported that 4 were killed and 7 people were injured, including children, in an Israeli bombing that targeted the Khafaja family in the “Tal Al-Sultan” neighborhood, west of the city of Rafah.

Eyewitnesses said that violent clashes broke out between the resistance factions and the Israeli occupation forces in the city of Rafah, with columns of smoke rising from several areas east of the city and sounds of artillery shelling and mutual clashes could be heard from time to time.

In a separate development, Israeli military vehicles made a limited incursion east of the city of Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli occupation forces penetrating east of Deir al-Balah were firing heavy machine guns at Palestinian homes and carrying out bulldozing operations dozens of meters away from the separating border fence.

The Israeli occupation forces carry out similar incursions at frequent intervals into areas near the eastern border fence of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of conducting combing operations in the area.

Warning of escalation

In the same context, the World Food Program warned that "the escalation of fighting in northern Gaza will jeopardize access to the Erez crossing (Beit Hanoun) and threaten the progress achieved in delivering more aid to the northern Gaza Strip."

In a post on the X platform, World Food expressed concern about “the recent evacuation (displacement) orders in the northern Gaza areas as a sign of the expected escalation in the fighting.”

He stressed the need for "safe and sustainable access to and through Gaza to provide aid with the aim of preventing famine."

The Israeli war on Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 7, left more than 114,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war on Gaza despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and despite the International Court of Justice demanding that it take immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
