The Treasurer of the Egyptian Zamalek Club, Hossam El-Mandouh, confirmed that the club will deal seriously with the issue of misorganization of the Confederation Cup coronation ceremony last Sunday, at the expense of Morocco’s RS Berkane.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) condemned what it described as the misconduct of the fans during and after the second leg of the final round of the Confederation Cup, and the chaos that occurred after the match, at Cairo Stadium, and referred the matter for investigation.
Al-Mandouh said in statements on On Sport FM radio: “There is seriousness on the part of the Board of Directors regarding the issue of poor organization, because the two million dollars reward for the tournament has many eyes on it, and I heard that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will impose fines due to poor organization.”
He added: "I was present on the field after the end of the match and during the coronation ceremony, and because of the joy and happiness after the title, we did not focus on where the mistake was. Everyone was happy."
He continued: “The Board of Directors sat during the past hours and believes that the entire file needs to be reviewed and why the mistakes occurred, and those who made mistakes must be held accountable.”
Hossam concluded: “There is a great deal of confusion and we will study the file, and we promise the public that this problem will be the last problem or this non-positive form will be the last time in Zamalek’s coronations, and we strive for white to always be on the coronation podiums.”
