Doctor: The spring sun is an excellent stimulus for the production of vitamin D

World Health Organization statistics indicate that nearly a billion people in the world suffer from a chronic deficiency in vitamin D, and spring is the best time to compensate for this deficiency.

According to Dr. Mariyat Mukhina, a Russian nutrition expert, it is not difficult to diagnose a vitamin D deficiency in the body, as there are many signs that indicate this: pain in the bones, muscles, and joints; Unexplained fatigue; poor sleep; hair loss; Recurrence of diseases; Depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, but an accurate diagnosis is usually made after a blood test.

The doctor points out that the free medicine available is the spring sunshine, under whose influence the body begins to produce vitamin D, which is also called the sunshine vitamin.

According to her, this microelement is unique because it is the only one that is partially produced by the human body itself. It is responsible for maintaining the proper level of phosphorus and calcium in the body, i.e. healthy teeth, bones and muscles. It also regulates the activity of the immune system, cardiovascular system, nervous system, digestive system, and others. It even participates in weight loss by improving metabolism.

She says: “There are studies that confirm that when the level of vitamin D returns to normal, people who have been diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency notice an improvement in the metabolism process and a decrease in the accumulation of fatty tissue.”

Foods rich in vitamin D
The expert points out that residents of areas with fewer sunny days, such as the northern regions, often suffer from vitamin D deficiency. Vegetarians, those who are overweight, and those with a sedentary lifestyle can also suffer from this deficiency.

The doctor advises that, to compensate for the deficiency of vitamin D and “turn on” the generator that produces it in the body, it is sufficient every day in the spring and summer to be exposed to the sun for 20 minutes a day, but of course if there are no contraindications due to ultraviolet rays.

According to her, if exposure to the sun is not possible, its deficiency can be compensated for by eating foods rich in it, such as salmon, tuna, sardines, fish oil, and egg yolks. As for special nutritional supplements, it is not recommended to take them unless prescribed by a doctor.
