According to Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Myanmar continues to be among the worst countries for press freedom in 2024.
According to RSF's ranking of press freedom among 180 countries, Myanmar ranks 171st and is among the countries with the worst press freedom.

Among the countries with the most freedom of the press are Norway, Denmark Sweden the netherlands Finland Estonia Portugal Ireland Including Switzerland and Germany.
Since January 1, 2024, a journalist has been killed in Myanmar and 59 journalists and three media workers have been arrested, a total of 62, according to RSF.
In 2023, Myanmar's press freedom situation was ranked 173rd, and in 2021, it was ranked 140th.
Myanmar is the second worst country in the world for arresting and imprisoning journalists, according to the New York-based Organization for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) at the end of March.
