Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan yesterday, Saturday, in the Saudi city of Dhahran, to discuss the war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip and seek to complete a broad bilateral agreement.
The Saudi News Agency said on Sunday, in a statement, that during the meeting, they “reviewed the strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields, and the semi-final version of the draft strategic agreements between the Kingdom and the United States of America, which work is close to being completed, was also discussed.”
According to the statement, Mohammed bin Salman and Sullivan discussed the need to find a credible path towards a two-state solution and the need to stop the war in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid.
Washington and Riyadh are discussing American security guarantees and civilian nuclear assistance within the framework of a broader agreement that the United States hopes will later lead to the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
This comes before Sullivan's visit to Israel today, Sunday, to discuss bilateral and regional issues, including Gaza, and the efforts made to achieve lasting peace and security in the region, according to statements by the White House, last Friday.
The Israeli war on Gaza, which has been ongoing since October 7, left more than 114,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
Israel continues the war on Gaza despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the International Court of Justice demanding immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
