Baykar President: Akinci has proven its efficiency and left its mark on the world

Selcuk Bayrakdar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Defense Industries Company Baykar, confirmed that the Akinci expedition left its mark on the world, after its success in finding the wreckage of the helicopter of the late Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, despite all the difficult weather conditions.

This came during an event in Istanbul, today, Tuesday, in which Bayraktar touched on the success of the Turkish “Bayrakdar Akinci” drone, manufactured by his company, in discovering the site of the helicopter crash of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation.

He said that Akinci carried out a successful operation in Iran, adding: “We are developing our Akinci and Bayraktar TB2 drones, and providing them to serve the armed forces with technical support.”

He added: "Given that the meteorological conditions were very difficult on that day (finding the helicopter wreckage), in addition to the fact that it was an operation outside the borders and a very important one, members of the armed forces contacted us to obtain technical support at night, and I was at work at the time."

He pointed out that his presence at work at that time was a pure coincidence, indicating that they owned Akinji aircraft in both the states of Batman and Van, in addition to Azerbaijan.

He explained that they provided technical support throughout the operation in coordination with their colleagues in those areas, noting that the wind speed was approximately 160 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 30,000 feet.

He added: "When descending to the ground, the winds decreased greatly and fog formed. In addition, there were all kinds of weather conditions such as snow, storms, and layers of clouds."

Bayrakdar explained that the march carried out the mission by entering the valleys in extremely bad weather and difficult geographical conditions, and that “no manned aircraft could carry out the mission in these harsh and dangerous conditions.”

He added that even if there was an aircraft with this capability, it could not perform the mission so quickly, noting that the march "left its mark all over the world."

Bayraktar expressed his pride in the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkish engineers, who worked throughout the mission from 11 p.m. (GMT 3) until the morning with full activity until the mission was successfully performed.

He stated that the Turkish march took pictures from the valley by descending to less than 9,700 feet and maneuvering between the valleys, and used satellites to complete its mission without obstacles.

He added, "I think we are setting a great example to the world, whether through armed drone technology (SİHA) or in the use of this technology. I think it was a model process for the whole world."

On Monday, Iranian state television announced the death of the country's President and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and their accompanying delegation in a helicopter crash, Sunday, in East Azerbaijan Province while they were returning from the opening ceremony of a dam on the border between Iran and Azerbaijan, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev.

A Turkish Akinci drone was able to detect the crash site of the helicopter, which participated in the search work at the request of an Iranian from the Turkish authorities.

Rescue teams were able to reach the wreckage of the helicopter after efforts that lasted 15 hours.
