APHR calls to save Rohingya from genocide : Myanmar

Indonesian MP Mercy Christy Barends, president of APHR, said that the international community needs to respond as soon as possible to prevent loss of life and serious crimes.

According to witnesses, Buthidaung town was destroyed by AA. The Rohingyas were forced to leave the city. A number of Rohingya houses were burned, including the house of U Shwe Maung, a member of APHR and a member of the Buthidaung Township People's Hluttaw. Buthidaung Township, Kyaukphyu Mountain Lepantaung Township, According to the APHR statement, there are unconfirmed reports that the AA is carrying out mass killings of Rohingya in Ngai Daung villages.

In 2017, tens of thousands of Rohingya were killed and more than 730,000 were left homeless due to the massacre and burning of entire villages by the security forces in Rakhine State. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued a temporary order in January 2020 to prevent all genocide against the Rohingya. It is clear that both the Burmese Military Council and the Rakhine Army AA did not follow this order. APHR President Barends said that if no action is taken against the Rohingyas in Rakhine State, many more lives will be lost, displacements will increase, and the regional crisis will worsen.
