The American Military Watch Magazine said that the Ukrainian army is facing problems in using the highly accurate weapons it received from the West.
This is due to the increasing effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare stations.
Russian electronic warfare primarily affects GPS-guided Excalibur artillery munitions, Hymars systems, and JDAM high-precision bombs.
The Washington Post had previously reported that in December 2023, the United States stopped supplies of Excalibur artillery shells when it became clear that Russian electronic warfare systems had lost their effectiveness.
Regarding HIMARS, a senior Ukrainian military official commented on the decline in the effectiveness of its strikes, saying: “It all ended in 2023 when the Russians deployed new electronic warfare systems and cut off satellite navigation signals, which made HIMARS completely ineffective.”
JDAM bombs are also subject to severe criticism for their inability to combat jamming, which leads to errors in hitting targets that may reach a distance ranging from 200 meters to 1,200 meters.
Electronic warfare systems not only reduce the effectiveness of Western weapons, but also seriously affect the operation of the satellite navigation-based communication system "Starlink" provided by the Pentagon, which is used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to coordinate troop operations, collect reconnaissance information, and launch aerial drones. According to officers and soldiers in the Ukrainian army, the separation of the “Starlink” system was one of the reasons for the recent successes of the Russian army on the front.
Military Watch Magazine said this seriously slowed down the forces' communications capabilities, forcing officers to switch to written notifications.
Communication disruption slows forces, relying on written notifications.
