The Egyptian Al-Ahly club retained the African Champions League title, at the expense of its guest, Esperance of Tunisia, after defeating it (1-0) in the second leg of the final that brought them together this Saturday evening.
The only "golden" winning goal for the Egyptian team came with "friendly fire", scored by mistake by Togolese midfielder Roger Ahulu against his team, Esperance, early, just four minutes after the whistle sounded at the start of the match at Cairo International Stadium.
The first leg between the two teams ended in a goalless draw at the Hamadi Al-Aqrabi Olympic Stadium in the Tunisian city of Rades.
Al-Ahly club won the championship title for the second time in a row, the fourth in the last 5 finals that the Egyptian team reached in a row, and the twelfth title in its history, thus enhancing its record, with a difference of 7 titles from its closest rivals, the Congolese club Mazembe and the other Egyptian team, Zamalek.
While Tunisian club Esperance failed to win a title for the first time since 2011, and the fifth in its history.
History repeats itself!
