Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, the Egyptian Minister of Endowments, decided to prevent photographing funerals whether inside or outside mosques.
The Minister explained that in view of what was observed in photographing some funerals while praying over them or entering or leaving the mosque, which is a transgression that does not befit the sanctity of the mosque or the sanctity of the dead, it is strictly prohibited to photograph any funeral, whether it is entering or leaving, or praying over it in mosques.
The Minister of Endowments also stressed that everyone should take this into account, taking into account the sanctity of the mosque, the sanctity of the dead, and the feelings of his family. This decision came after the transgression of many worshipers accompanying the funerals, as well as the transgression of some journalists while performing their work.
It is noteworthy that the decision to ban filming funerals was implemented by the Syndicate of Acting Professions after its crisis with some journalists at the funeral of the artist Salah Al-Saadani.
