What humans were unable to do, artificial intelligence Find Plato's grave!

An Italian team of scientists led by Graziano Ranocchia, a papyrologist at the University of Pisa, announced that artificial intelligence has determined the exact burial location of the philosopher Plato in Athens.

The website Arkeonews has reported that the exact location of Plato's burial was calculated by analyzing ancient papyri discovered in the lost city of Herculaneum near modern-day Naples.

The papyri were found in the eighteenth century, and contain more than 1,800 manuscripts. The manuscripts were kept in a library belonging to a luxurious villa in Herculaneum. This city, like Pompeii, perished in 79 AD. Result of the eruption of volcano Vesuvius.

For the first time, artificial intelligence technology was used to read papyrus. Artificial intelligence helped identify the largest percentage of the text, and this discovery was made while solving papyrus codes that tell the “History of the Philodemus Gadara Academy.”

Graziano Ranocchia said that the texts indicate that Plato "was buried in the academy that bears his name in Athens, in a garden near the temple of the Muses." The burial place was accurately indicated by artificial intelligence, thanks to which the Philodemus papyrus of the Epicurean school, which describes in detail the history of the academy, received a new interpretation.

It is noteworthy that Plato's Academy was the most famous school in ancient Athens. It was founded outside the city walls in the northwest of the city in 387 BC.

There is still no scientific consensus on the circumstances of Plato's death. Researchers rely on the works of Cicero and Hermippus, but they talk about Plato's death in different ways. According to Cicero, Plato died while writing scientific research, while Hermippus believes that the famous philosopher died at a wedding at the age of 81 and was buried in the Academy.

It is worth noting that Plato was the great philosopher of Athens in the classical period of ancient Greece, and the founder of the Platonic school of thought and the Academy, the first institution of higher education in the Western world. He is considered one of the most important and influential figures in human history. He is also considered a fundamental figure in the history of ancient Greek philosophy, along with his teacher Socrates and his most famous student Aristotle.
