Turkish security forces in Istanbul arrested Mursel Durmaz, an official of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), in the German Cologne/Truisdorf region.
Security sources said on Saturday that the Anti-Terrorism Branch of the Istanbul Security Directorate and the National Intelligence Service continued joint work to decode PKK activities.
She added that within the framework of joint intelligence work, the security teams learned that Durmaz, nicknamed “Zenel,” a PKK official in the Cologne/Truisdorf area, would arrive in Istanbul by plane from Germany.
The sources explained that the teams arrested Durmaz at Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Istanbul, after it was proven that he was involved in activities on behalf of the “terrorist” organization in Europe.
She indicated that the Turkish security teams transferred Durmaz to the Istanbul Security Directorate, and after the end of the legal procedures against him, they referred him to the alternate court, which in turn decided to imprison him.
