Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry recommends that its citizens refrain from traveling to Russia

On Saturday, the Tajik Foreign Ministry issued recommendations to citizens to temporarily refrain from traveling to Russia by all types of transportation, unless there is “extreme necessity.”

This came a day after Tajikistan summoned the Russian ambassador to Dushanbe, Semyon Grigoriev, with whom Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Sadiq Emami discussed "the difficulties facing the citizens of Tajikistan in the recent period" upon entering Russian territory.

The Tajik side expressed its concern about the recent increase in cases of preventing Tajik citizens from entering Russia, whether across the border between Kazakhstan and Russia or at airports on Russian territory.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the statements of the Tajik side, said that there are strict security measures on the Russian border due to the continued presence of the terrorist threat following the attack on the Crocus City shopping center on the outskirts of Moscow on March 22.

It is noteworthy that the terrorist attack on the "Crocus City" center resulted in the deaths of 144 people and the injury of hundreds. The Russian authorities arrested a number of Tajik citizens pending investigation, including the perpetrators of the attack.
