So it is more about developing human resources, and this is important for Indonesia in order to move towards digital transformation.
Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) supports investment by global technology company Microsoft in Indonesia, including to build a research center and develop digital talents.
"So it is more about developing human resources, and this is important for Indonesia in moving towards digital transformation ," said Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, who accompanied President Jokowi to meet with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday.
During the meeting, said Budi, Satya told President Jokowi that Microsoft would invest significantly in Indonesia over the next four years in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure, as well as AI training opportunities for 840,000 people.
Apart from that, there is also support for the developing developer community in Indonesia, such as the "AI Oddyssey" program , which is expected to reach 10,000 developers with Microsoft credentials.
"Satya conveyed to the President the amount of Microsoft's investment, which will soon be announced (to the public) and is the largest single investment value in the history of Microsoft's 29 year business activities in Indonesia," said Budi.
Responding to Microsoft's business development commitment, said Budi, the government has offered a number of locations for the construction of Microsoft research centers, including Bali and the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN).
He believes that the construction of a research and technology development center will be very beneficial for Indonesia, on its journey to becoming a developed country.
"The most important issue for Indonesia is digital transformation, so what is the key to digital transformation? It's human capital. Don't take it lightly, you know, because development is not just physical. "Human capital development is important," said Budi.
