Paris Saint-Germain was crowned champion of the French Premier League, Ligue 1, on Sunday evening, three rounds before the end of the league.
The Parisian team was crowned champion after the defeat of its rival Monaco against its host Lyon (2-3), in the match that brought them together in the 31st round of the league.
The home team's hat-trick was scored by Alexandre Lacazette, Saeed Benrahma, and Malik Fofana in the 22nd, 26th, and 84th minutes, respectively.
While striker Wissam Ben Yedder scored a brace for Monaco in the 1st and 60th minutes of the match.
After this defeat, Monaco's balance stopped at 58 points, and it occupies second place in the table, 12 points behind Paris Saint-Germain, which has become out of its reach.
While the Lyon team raised its score to 44 points, and occupies seventh place in the standings.
Paris Saint-Germain retained the French League champion title for the third time in a row, and the 12th in its history, moving away from the top spot with the most winning clubs in the league, with a difference of two titles from runner-up Saint-Etienne, followed in third place by Marseille with 9 games, and then Monaco with 8 titles.
