Doctors at Khimki Hospital in Moscow Province explained the importance of vaccination against many infectious diseases, noting that it saves the lives of millions of people from death.
According to them, human society has long depended on vaccination, yet many do not realize its importance. Therefore, vaccines have become a hostage of their effectiveness. Young people do not know that entire families died in the past from diphtheria, and that entire cities died from smallpox.”
Doctors point out that thanks to vaccines that began to be widely used in the last century, the average human life expectancy has increased by 25 years. Vaccines currently save about 3 million people from death annually.
“Protect yourself and your children from dangerous infections, get vaccinated according to the national vaccination calendar,” says Vladislav Merzunov, the hospital’s chief physician, noting that when planning a trip to exotic countries, a person should check the epidemiological situation there and be vaccinated against endemic infectious diseases.
It is noteworthy that World Immunization Week is held annually from April 22 to 28 at the initiative of the World Health Organization.
