Mexico : 8 bodies were found on the side of the road near the border with the United States

Judicial sources in Mexico announced that 8 bodies were found on the side of the road in the north of the country, while local media reported 9 bodies of naked dead people bearing signs of violence.

"Eight men were found dead on the road between Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez, near the border with the United States," the Chihuahua state prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The prosecution added that an investigation was opened to clarify the causes of death and determine the identity of the victims, explaining that no material evidence was found.

Local media reported that there were nine bodies, and a letter was found next to them, most likely attributed to drug smuggling, according to the website of the newspaper "Milenio".

The media added that the ages of the victims ranged between 35 and 50 years.

Mexico, with a population of 126 million people, has recorded more than 420,000 murders since 2006, with the beginning of a massive anti-drug campaign launched by former President Felipe Calderon, and most of these crimes are attributed to criminal gangs.
