Kazakh emergency: Thousands of homes are still submerged in flood waters

Kazakh Emergencies Ministry spokesman Yerasil Saibash announced that more than 5.5 thousand homes and about 4 thousand fields and rural homes are still submerged in flood waters that swept the north of the country on the border with Russia.

Saibaş told reporters on Monday: “So far, 4,898 homes, 1,542 fields and 2,035 rural homes are still submerged in water. Water has been pumped out from about 3.5 thousand residential buildings and more than 2,000 squares and 11,950 people have returned to their homes. 6,814 people, including 2,995 children, are still in accommodation centers.” Temporary.

He added that the number of people evacuated from the affected areas since the beginning of last March exceeded 111,000 people, including about 40,000 children.

Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the current floods in the country are the largest in more than 80 years.
