Head of the Union of Muslim Scholars from Istanbul: Resisting the occupation of Israel is not terrorism

The President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Ali Al-Qaradaghi, stressed that what happened on October 7, 2023 was not terrorism, but rather liberation in every sense of the word, refusing to describe the resistance against the Israeli occupation as “terrorism.”

The head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, Ali Al-Qaradaghi, confirmed on Saturday that resistance to the Israeli occupation is not terrorism “neither in international laws nor in heavenly laws.”

This came in a speech during the activities of the fifth conference of the “Parliamentarians for Jerusalem” Association, whose activities continued in Istanbul yesterday and will conclude tomorrow.

Al-Qaradaghi called on world leaders to form an international organization to protect the oppressed in Gaza and elsewhere in the future and to stop the aggression, “similar to the pre-Islamic era’s alliance to protect the oppressed.”

He said: “We must raise our voice that resisting the occupation is not terrorism, neither in international laws nor in heavenly laws. Let this be our slogan, because the enemy - and those with him - want to prove that what happened on October 7 was terrorism, but in reality it was liberation in all its ways.” What does the word mean?

He continued: "Peace and security are completely missing for our people in Palestine, especially in proud Gaza, and in Al-Quds Al-Sharif and Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the sanctuaries were desecrated by the settlers without regard to any religious value. The Zionist occupiers destroyed everything."

He believed that all human values, UN laws, international norms, and the goals for which the United Nations was established had completely collapsed after the crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians.

He added: "Therefore, the world today needs one voice, a new world order that achieves peace and security for all, not for a specific group," citing the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that "the world is bigger than five."

He went on to say: “Certainly 7 billion is much larger than 5 countries that do not represent a billion.”

The Istanbul conference is being held at a time when the Israeli army has continued, since last October 7, a devastating war on Gaza that has left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, according to Palestinian sources, which necessitated the trial of Tel Aviv before the International Court of Justice on the grounds of genocide.
