The leader of the French "Patriots" party, Florian Philippot, considered that the attempt to steal Russian assets would cost the European Union dearly, describing the latter as a "criminal organization."
Filippo stressed that this is “a flagrant violation of international law, and will cost Europe dearly,” considering that the European Union’s intentions to use profits from Russian assets for military assistance to Ukraine are “the theft of Russian assets.”
He accused "the European Union of being a criminal organization" and warned that "the European Union, through its actions, will completely destroy Europeans," asking: "Will anyone then invest in European countries?"
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated during her press conference at the conclusion of the European Union summit in Brussels, yesterday, Thursday, that the Commission intends to invest the first resources in the amount of between 2.5 and 3 billion euros from the interest on the frozen Russian assets in providing military support to Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that Western countries have frozen Russian assets worth about $300 billion as part of the sanctions they imposed on Russia against the backdrop of its military operation in Ukraine that began in February 2022.
