The RBB network reported that hundreds of doctors at the Charité Hospital in Berlin announced a one-day strike demanding higher wages, which led to the postponement of treatment for many non-urgent cases.
She added that the union, in its talks with Charité, is demanding a 12.5% increase in wages, an increase in night bonuses, and the introduction of a new bonus for working outside normal working hours.
It quoted the Marburger Bund Foundation as saying that this institution invited about 2,700 doctors from 3 Charite hospitals to participate in a one-day warning strike today, Thursday.
For his part, a hospital representative confirmed that due to the strike, all non-urgent medical procedures had been postponed, explaining: “We will perform the necessary operations to remove tumors, organ transplants, operations for children, and care for patients after strokes, heart attacks, and other emergency cases.”
