Collapses and damage to homes a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hits northern Turkiye

An RT correspondent in Turkey said on Thursday evening that some rural homes in Tokat Province, northern Turkey, collapsed following an earthquake that struck the region.

The reporter stated that the magnitude of the earthquake reached 5.6 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was in the Solusaray region.

He stated that the Turkish authorities say that no human casualties have been reported yet.

Our correspondent confirmed that there had been damage to some old houses, noting that a two-story house collapsed in the Yozgat area, in addition to 5 houses being severely damaged.

He added that the minarets of some old mosques were also destroyed.

He stated that the Turkish authorities are talking about the collapse of some houses in the rural areas of Tokat Province.

He explained that residents of the states of Tokat, Samsun, Yozgat, Cankeri, and Çorum, in northern and northeastern Turkey, felt the tremor.

In this context, he stressed that city centers did not suffer any significant damage.
