The Russian President's envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with the envoys of the Middle East countries members of the BRICS group the situation in Gaza, the Libyan file, and regional issues.
According to a statement by the Russian embassy in Libya: “During the discussion of pressing regional issues, the focus was on the catastrophic situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone and the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.”
Views were also exchanged on ways to support efforts to normalize the situation and comprehensive settlement of the crises in Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya and Yemen.
The meeting was attended for the first time by representatives of Egypt, Iran, the UAE and Ethiopia, the countries that recently joined BRICS, which includes Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa.
