Why does Britain refuse to airdrop aid to Gaza?

The American "Bloomberg" website quoted informed sources as saying that British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps prevented his country's aid from being airdropped into Gaza because of the risks to civilians.

The sources said that British officials had drawn up a plan for the Royal Air Force to parachute aid packages into Gaza, along with similar efforts by the United States, Egypt, France and Jordan.

According to the sources, Shapps refused to sign on to the use of Royal Air Force aircraft to carry out missions, and justified his position with fears that airdrops would be dangerous, citing reports that airdrops carried out in recent days caused the killing of a number of Palestinians “by mistake.”

Last week, reports carried by Israeli media stated that at least five people were killed near Gaza City when they were directly hit by aid dropped by American aircraft , while a larger number were injured.

In turn, the US Army Central Command denied  responsibility for the wrong aid landing in the Gaza Strip.
