The vibrations from the 6 magnitude earthquake in North Sulawesi were felt in the Philippines

Jakarta - Vibrations from an earthquake measuring 6 magnitude centered in the northeast of the Talaud Islands, North Sulawesi (Sulut), Friday evening, were also felt in the Philippines.

According to analysis by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the tectonic earthquake vibrations that were felt were at MMI III intensity scale at around 17:11 WITA.

"The shaking was felt in Talaud - Mindanao region, Philippines, the updated parameter was 6 magnitudes of vibration, the intensity scale was III MMI," said Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center Daryono in Jakarta, Friday.

According to him, the medium-sized earthquake occurred due to deformation in the Philippine Sea Plate.

Source analysis shows that the earthquake had an upward movement mechanism (thrust fault).

However, he confirmed that there had been no reports of damage due to the impact of the earthquake vibrations. Likewise, modeling results show that up to 17:50 WITA there were no aftershocks, and this earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.
