The Russian government approves a draft agreement with China to establish the international lunar station

The Russian government approved the draft law concluding the agreement signed with China regarding the establishment of the joint international lunar station.
The text of the government decision in this regard was published on the website of the Russian Council of Ministers. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has assigned Deputy Director General of the Russian governmental space corporation Roscosmos, Sergei Savelyev, to refer the draft agreement to the Duma (the lower house of the Russian Parliament) to conclude it and submit a document for its consideration.

The government decision indicated that the agreement will help strengthen the strategic partnership between Russia and China, develop joint efforts in the field of space exploration, and demonstrate Russia's pioneering role in this field. The decision also indicated that cooperation between scientists from the two countries will allow for increasing the effectiveness of space research and preparing specialists for future projects.

It is noteworthy that the issue of establishing and investing in the lunar space station was on the agenda of the Russian government on March 15. As for the memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of establishing the lunar station, it was signed by Russia and China in March 2021, and then on November 25, 2022, the two governments signed in Beijing a draft agreement to establish the lunar station.
