Jakarta - The West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit uncovered the circulation of hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine-type narcotics from the Malaysian network with a total of 110 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence and seven suspects.
"They are SD (44), AN (42), MR (42), MT (42), ML (29), WP (24) and RD (24)," said Metro Jaya Police Deputy Chief Brigadier General Suyudi Ario Seto in a meeting. press in Jakarta, Wednesday.
He explained that the disclosure of the Malaysia-Medan-Aceh-Jakarta network methamphetamine narcotics case was carried out by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Team.
Suyudi said that the methamphetamine from Malaysia entered Indonesia via sea and transited several areas until it was finally revealed.
"Disclosure of methamphetamine-type narcotics cases in the Malaysia, Medan, Aceh, Jakarta network," he said.
Furthermore, Suyudi said that the disclosure of the Malaysian narcotics network began in October 2023 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport with one kilogram of methamphetamine confiscated.
"From this arrest, the team in November last year, December 2023, then January this year also carried out developments so that (gradually) they succeeded in arresting the seven suspects," said Suyudi.
Meanwhile, West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner Pol M Syahduddi said the disclosure began when officers arrested two suspects, namely WP and RD, in the Palmerah area, West Jakarta with evidence of five kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
"Then information was obtained about a methamphetamine narcotics transaction in the Travoy KM 65 Rest Area, Tanah Raja Village, Sei Rampah District, Serdang Begadai Regency, West Sumatra," said Syahduddi.
Then, said Syahduddi, officers moved to the location to carry out an investigation and as a result, two suspects with the initials AN and SD were arrested again with five kilograms of methamphetamine as evidence.
"From the confessions of the two suspects, information was obtained that there was a warehouse storing crystal methamphetamine in the Debang Taman Sari Cluster, Tanjung Sari Village, Medan Selayan District, Medan City, North Sumatra," said Syahduddi.
The police again moved to the narcotics storage warehouse and again arrested two suspects with the initials MR and MT along with evidence of 100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
"The evidence is six boxes of red plastic containers containing 100 packages of crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of 100,000 grams or 100 kilograms," said Syahduddi.
Thus, said Syahduddi, the total evidence of crystal methamphetamine confiscated was 110 kilograms.
From the results of the suspect MT's interrogation,
"From the results of the investigation, it was revealed that ML was in charge of carrying out transactions or payments for methamphetamine narcotics. ML was arrested at a coffee shop in the Ciracas area, East Jakarta," said Syahduddi.
Syahduddi continued, from the continuation of the investigation into the suspect MT, it was discovered that the person carrying out the payment transaction for his crystal methamphetamine was the suspect ML.
"Disclosure of this type of methamphetamine narcotics network is still in the in-depth development stage," said Syahduddi.
Furthermore, Syahduddi said that the type of methamphetamine narcotics that was revealed came from Malaysia, then to Aceh via sea, then from Aceh the goods were stored in a warehouse.
For their actions, the suspects were charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) Subsidiary to Article 112 Paragraph (2), Juncto Article 132 Paragraph (1) Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
"The threat of punishment is the death penalty, life imprisonment or a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison," said Syahduddi.
He also claimed that the disclosure of 110 kilograms of narcotics succeeded in saving 1,100,000 people.
"If 10 people consume one gram of crystal methamphetamine, then from (this disclosure), 1,100,000 will be saved," said Syahduddi.
