On Tuesday, the Canadian Parliament approved a proposal calling on the government to support the establishment of a Palestinian state. The proposal also included calls for harsh measures against Israel.
On Tuesday, the Canadian Parliament approved a non-binding proposal calling on the country's government to take steps to "establish a Palestinian state as part of the two-state solution."
After being presented for discussion, the proposal presented by the opposition New Democratic Party was approved by a majority of 204 votes to 117.
The draft proposal included calls to take harsh measures against Israel, such as “admitting to committing genocide in Gaza, and stopping its arms sales.”
As a result of its discussion in Parliament, the proposal was amended to become a “call for the establishment of a Palestinian state.”
The proposal to vote on the resolution sparked anger in Israel, and the Israeli ambassador to Canada, Ido Moed, expressed his disapproval, considering that it would inflame the situation and cause danger to “Israel.”
Last week, Canada announced a halt to the export of non-lethal weapons to Israel starting in January due to the rapid development of the situation on the ground.
