Rescue teams in the southern Swiss canton of Valais found the bodies of five skiers near the Tet Blanche mountain, while a search is still underway for a sixth missing person, according to what a police statement said yesterday, Monday.

The police statement stated that after a report of 6 skiers missing, at 7:30 on Sunday, 3 rescue personnel and a police officer were sent to the Tête Blanche mountain hut. At approximately 9:20 pm, the team arrived at the area and quickly found 5 of the missing skiers dead.

The police said on Sunday, March 10, that the group set off on a ski trip on the Zermatt-Arola road, while the Tate Blanche region is located halfway between the two resorts. Police said the ages of the skating group ranged from 21 to 58 years.

The Valais canton police pointed out that various techniques were used to locate the skiers, and there was contact between a member of the group with the rescue teams at 5:15 pm on Saturday, which allowed the team to locate them in the Tate Blanche area.
