Russian expert warns against "deep fake" techniques

Russian technical expert, Dmitry Kryukov, warned of the spread of fake videos on the Internet, which are developed through so-called "deep fake" techniques.

Regarding the topic, the expert said: “I believe that deep fake technologies are developing very quickly, and within a year it may be impossible to distinguish between a fake video clip and a real one, and these technologies may be exploited by online fraudsters.”

He added: "It is easier and faster for fraudsters to make fake videos to influence someone and obtain their data rather than hacking specific systems. Therefore, in the future, they will rely on fraudulent methods that enable them to exploit the Internet and social media."

The expert pointed out, “The methods for detecting deep fakes are currently still in their infancy, and are not effective enough, so we can expect an increase in the number of electronic attacks in which deep fake technologies are used, and these attacks can only be resisted through continuous training of cadres and experts.” Specialists in information security issues.
