The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced the killing of more than 13,000 children in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to continuous Israeli aggression since last October 7, something that has never happened in any other conflict in the world, including famine and siege.
James Elder, spokesman for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), announced the killing of more than 13,000 children in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli aggression since last October 7.
In a post about child victims in Gaza, which he published on the X platform, on Monday, Elder called for the necessity of reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell had previously expressed her shock at the killing of so many children.
Catherine stressed that the world has never witnessed this rate of deaths among children in any of the other conflicts, in addition to the presence of tens of thousands of others injured, stuck under the rubble, or missing their parents.
She added: "Children in the Gaza Strip are dying from malnutrition."
She pointed out that any of the children in Gaza who did not die are now suffering from the repercussions of the war due to the pressures, fear and tension to which they are exposed, stressing: “Palestinian children will continue to feel this and remember it throughout their lives.”
Last February, UNICEF announced that one out of every three children in the northern Gaza Strip suffers from acute malnutrition, and that this problem doubled during February compared to January 2024.
