The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) announced on March 3 that more than 18 and a half million people in Myanmar are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
It is reported that many people are struggling to meet their daily needs due to inflation and the insecurity caused by the fighting.
Conflicts are increasing throughout the country, especially in the southeast. UNOCHA says the situation is worst in the northwest and Rakhine state, where the number of refugees is increasing. As of today, there are 2.7 million refugees who have fled their homes.
Since November 2023, all roads into Rakhine state have been blocked, so food is scarce and prices are rising.
Although UNOCHA is trying to reach those who need help, they are blocked without being allowed to travel freely. He also said that he was unable to travel due to the need for funds.
Help must immediately be provided.
