Informed sources revealed on Saturday that SpaceX, owned by businessman Elon Musk, is building a network of hundreds of spy satellites as part of a secret contract with US intelligence.
Reuters quoted sources as saying that a contract worth $1.8 billion was signed by the company in 2021 with the US National Office of Military Space Intelligence (affiliated with the Pentagon), stipulating that the “Starshield” division would be responsible for establishing the network.
Reuters noted significant investments by the US Department of Defense in low-orbit satellite systems designed to support ground forces.
According to agency sources, if the SpaceX network succeeds, it will significantly expand the ability of the US Armed Forces to quickly detect potential targets almost anywhere on Earth.
Last February 15, the US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) announced the successful launch of six satellites, including two dedicated to monitoring hypersonic weapons and ballistic weapons, aboard a SpaceX rocket.
According to a 63-page report issued by the Pentagon, the US government and the private sector secretly developed numerous satellites and other data collection methods that the public could identify as UFOs.
