LeBron James scores the first 40,000 points in NBA history

Jakarta - In front of an enthusiastic audience at the Crypto com Arena Los Angeles, Saturday local time (Sunday WIB), LeBron James became the first NBA player to reach 40,000 points in the history of the competition.

James spun past a Denver Nuggets defender for a smooth layup early in the second quarter, which set the record straight. He clenched his fist and punched the air after reaching 40 thousand points.

"To achieve achievements and achieve achievements throughout my career, everything means a lot to me. A lot," said James as quoted on the official NBA website.

"Of course, there is a pecking order where some are higher than others. But I would be lying to you if I said this doesn't mean anything. It means a lot," he continued.

LeBron James is expected to average around 25 points per game this season. James is new history, where the 39 year old NBA player still has consistent performance for almost 20 seasons with an average of 25 points per game.

There hasn't been an “oldest player” in the NBA to consistently average 10 points since John Stockton scored 10.8 points per game in the 2002-2003 season. James is expected to finish with the highest scoring average of any oldest player. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the oldest player in the league when he averaged 23.4 points in the 1985-86 season.

Even though James' latest achievement this time is not as special as becoming the highest scorer in NBA history which he made last year, 40 thousand points, which no one has ever scored, is still a special moment.

James will be all over the NBA record books if he really catches up, and it's possible to do so. Here's a look at how LeBron James ranks in other statistics:

Minutes played (2nd)
Assists (4th)
Steals (8th)
Games played (7th)
Rebounds (31st).
