KIA seizes more than ten military council camps : Myanmar

During the fighting in Kachin State, more than a dozen army camps, including two military council camps, were attacked and captured, and the fighting continues until today on March 8, according to Colonel Nobu, in charge of information and communication of the Kachin Liberation Army (KIA).

Myitkyina - The KIA has been simultaneously attacking military camps around Van Maw Road and Laiza town since March 7, Colonel Norbu told RFA.

"The biggest thing is the 120 of their heavy weapons that were taken yesterday evening from the Phong Pyeong Buam military camp. It is a sitting camp. You can also capture the military base called Int Bom. All are over ten. Bum re bum (Bum re bum) Many of the kakings around Hkaya Bum and the new city are taken. Guarding camps and small camps are now in a position where the big camp, Bom Ye, and Khaya Taung are fighting back."

He said that the military council army has been firing heavy weapons towards Laiza city since yesterday, and about three large weapons have exploded inside China.

A resident of Laiza said that this morning, the sounds of fighting are echoing everywhere, and Laiza town is also being fired on continuously with heavy weapons, so residents are fleeing.

"Since morning, I have been hearing voices from many places. There were about eight rounds of artillery fire this morning until eight o'clock. On one side of Laiza, on the Chinese side, heavy weapons fell and houses were burned. Many people in the city are also avoiding evacuation.”

Colonel Norbu said that the military camps that are being attacked now are military camps that were lost by the KIA after 2011, and they are fighting to regain those camps and reopen the Van Maw-Myitkyina road.

During yesterday's fighting, three civilians, including a child and a woman, were killed when a large weapon exploded in Laiza town, local residents said.
